Hammer Storage HN1200-1000 1TB Myshare Network Storage
From Hammer Storage

HAMMER MYSHARE 1TB

Exccellent cheap device for VMware ESXi shared storage This device is great, and I have it connected to my VMware ESXi / ESX servers running 5 VMs as a shared storage NFS device. I have really put this through the test by filling up the disk cache and then pushing 20GB concurrent transfers from server to server. Amazingly enough, with this type of I/O, no connection interruptions or data loss. This is a great solution for anyone that wants to get VMware's free ESXi server version and use shared storage instead of local disk storage. I have used the FTP and HTTP share access when I am on the road to get file access to my home network in a pinch. All in all I haven't seen a device of this caliber and quality. Also regarding the MAC review above, this user could of shared out a NFS and have been all set. I use a combination of Mac / Linux / PC / ESXi / ESX server and have had no issues with access, just need the tech know how. The only complaint that I have is that I would like to have more configuration on the NFS user access regarding export settings etc. I will recommend this device to all my fellow work mates and anyone that wants a robust all in one storage device. rock solid, but showing it's age I bought one of these a couple years ago. I read an article about Hammer being the first to bring out such a product at a price that a home user could afford, so I was an early adopter for one of these devices. I definitely haven't regretted getting one! First off, it's worked flawlessly all the time that I've had it. I have several computers on my home network, and it is just *so* convenient to be able to just store files centrally on this device, and access them from anywhere. The speed of the disk and the ethernet connection (10/100) is sufficient to play modest-sized video over the network, without having to copy it locally. Very nice. However, with all that said, I think this device has gotten a little long in the tooth. Now all the disk makers are making these devices, and making them with more storage, faster disks, faster networking (Gigabit ethernet) etc. I can say with certainty that this is a very solid product, and works great, but there may be better options available now. Unbeatable simplicity, capacity & performance for $250! I'd been looking for a low cost external storage solution that would give me at least 500 gigabytes of network accessible mirrored capacity over my home office LAN at 100base-T but preferably gigahertz ethernet speed. First I tried a Netgear Storage Central SC101 so-called "SAN" device. This is a great product idea but bad execution makes it not quite ready for prime time. It runs hotter than the toaster it resembles, is not straightforward in either connectivity or operation, uses a proprietary disk format... and there's no free tech support beyond network connectivity. After suffering a data loss catastrophe with the Netgear foot warmer, I decided to get serious about finding a REAL solution and ended up purchasing a 1 TB Myshare. What a dream! I followed the installation quick start instructions and have been purring along without a hitch for over 6 months. I do an incremental backup to this drive every night using Acronis True Image Home 11.0. I've needed to recover my full backup on one occasion and the combination of True Image and the Myshare NAS made the process effortless. I just started the recovery and went out to dinner. When we returned, the hard drive was restored and I was able to carry on my work without data loss. This is the way a network attached storage device is supposed to work. I recently added a second Myshare for a total of 1 TB of mirrored storage. It was as easy as plugging the second device into my router and going through the quick start like I had with the first unit. Effortless. I called Hammer tech support for help with the USB feature... and actually got a human being in the Unites States. With the tech's patient and knowledgeable help I connected an external USB drive and a printer to further extend the usefulness of this product to enhance productivity in my home office. I'm delighted with this product and highly recommend it to anyone who needs a reliable backup storage device for a home of small office LAN.
